Why Nobody Finds You On Google
You built a website. Maybe you even paid good money for it. But when you check your analytics... crickets. Here's why.
1. Google Doesn't Know You Exist
If you never submitted your site to Google Search Console, Google might not have found you yet. It's free — go to search.google.com/search-console, add your site, and submit your sitemap.
2. Your Pages Don't Have The Right Words
Google reads your pages to understand what they're about. If your homepage says "Welcome to our website" instead of "Emergency Plumber in Hamilton — 24/7 Service," Google has nothing to work with.
Every page needs to include the words people actually search for. Use my Meta Generator to get started.
3. You Only Have One Page
If your entire website is a single page, Google can only rank you for one thing. Create separate pages for each service you offer. Each page is another chance to show up in search results.
4. Your Site Is Too Slow
Google penalizes slow sites. If your site takes 5 seconds to load, Google pushes you down the results. Check your speed.
5. No One Links To You
When other websites link to yours, Google sees it as a vote of confidence. If you have zero backlinks, Google has no reason to trust you.
Get listed on local directories (I made a guide for NZ). Each listing is a backlink.
